Middle Men's use of Information Management
TWO
During this movie, there are always investigators on the men because of the content and people that they are working with. This is how information systems can harm a business when it is put out in public. When the men messed up in the movie and released underage content to the public on their website, the FBI found this content on the internet and used it against them in order to try and shut them down. This can only be done by using information systems, this information is always open to the public when it is released once so the FBI used it in order to shut them down and arrest them.
ONE
The premise of “Middle Men” is that two supergenius guys, Wayne and Buck write a program to sell pornography over the internet using credit cards. The money starts rolling in quickly. When their source material of magazine scans starts to get old, they make a deal with a Russian mobster to use his stable of stripper club girls to get new material.
Wayne and Buck may be supergeniuses, but they have no idea how to run a business. Plus, they are moronic dope heads, and the Russian mob wants its money. So Jack Harris, straight-and-narrow family guy and businessman, is brought in to help them. He sees the potential in the credit-card billing scheme; instead of producing the content, they will be the middle men between the pornographers and customers, selling the billing services. The idea is a success, of course.

This is where I want to spend my time when talking about how this movie uses information management. Once the two men came up with this idea to take the credit card numbers and bill them when they watch a video, they had to come up with an idea to manage the information that the website. Whenever the website would be visited and a person would subscribe, they would charge $9.99 for each subscription. When they got these subscriptions they had a bell attached to the computer to tell them that they got a hit. But, once the website was getting well known they had to somehow manage more and more information. The website was such a success that they needed another server just to handle the amount of people they had subscribing.
The reason why this website was such a great hit with everyone all over the world was that it was completely anonymous and there was no bill ever sent over the mail that said it was pornography. So this is just one of the many information systems that has been produced for businesses that has been a major success.
